Mariposas negras, by David Baute, Platinum Award for Best Animated Feature Film

Goya, Forque, Gaudí, Ones and now Platino Awards. The 2d animated drama of climate refugees narrated in the film “Mariposas Negras”, directed by Canarian David Baute and produced by Ikiru Films, Tinglado Film, Anangu Grup and Tunche Films, has won the Platinum Award for Best Animated Film.

The film, which can be seen on RTVE play, tells the emotional and harsh stories of three women from different parts of the world (Tanit, Valeria and Shaila) who are forced to leave their homes and become climate migrants due to the devastating effects of the climate crisis.

With script by Yaiza Berrocal and editing by Clara Martínez, “Mariposas Negras”, after its singular tour through international festivals, will have its national broadcast for the general public who will be able to discover the migratory drama suffered by millions of people due to the climatic consequences, reflected in the song “Inmigrante” composed for this film by Rubén Blades, within the soundtrack

by Diego Navarro, under the sound design made in the studio of Coser y Cantar.

The film directed by David Baute, with Pepe Sánchez as animation director and María Pulido as art director, has won the awards for best national film at the Goya, Forqué and Gaudí, and now wins the Platinum Award, awards that recognize the work of directors, actors, producers, musicians, technicians… nominated among the more than a thousand productions made last year in Latin America.

A gala that ended with a wish: ‘Goodbye Spain: long live the Platino Awards’, awards promoted by the Spanish Audiovisual Producers’ Rights Management Entity (Egeda) and the Ibero-American Federation of Film and Audiovisual Producers (FIPCA), which will return to Mexico next year.
