“Tadeo Jones and the Wonderful Lamp” debuts at No. 1 at the box office in Spain and marks the best opening in the franchise’s history

Tadeo Jones Conquers the Box Office Once Again on Its Theatrical Debut! Just as with the three previous installments in the series, “TADEO JONES AND THE MAGICAL LAMP” has once again reached the top spot at the Spanish box office on its opening day, with 165,000 viewers and €935,000 in gross receipts—figures that represent a 30% market share and the franchise’s best opening ever. The film’s gross receipts nearly doubled those of the second-place film on the box office chart.
The latest film directed by Enrique Gato opened in 412 theaters and on 570 screens in Spain. Following its release yesterday in France—where it became the sixth highest-grossing film—it will be released in the coming weeks in some 40 territories across five continents through Paramount Pictures International.
“TADEO JONES AND THE MAGIC LAMP” reunites some of the saga’s key creative minds: Enrique Gato as director, Manuel Burque and Josep Gatell as screenwriters, and Zacarías M. de la Riva as composer. The film has also introduced new voices to the Tadeo Jones universe. Actress Petra Martínez plays the genie of the magical lamp, while Carlos Latre lends his voice to several characters, including Jeff and Belzoni, who—thanks to the lamp’s powers—will be able to communicate with humans for the first time. Joining them are Óscar Barberán as Tadeo Jones, Michelle Jenner as Sara, Luis Posada as the Mummy, and Ana Esther Alborg as Ramona.
Synopsis
Tadeo and Sara are now the parents of Olimpia (Oli), an adorable and intrepid two-year-old girl. And Momia isn’t taking it well at all that he’s no longer the center of attention. While on vacation in London, Sara tracks down a unique object: the magical lamp from *One Thousand and One Nights*. And Momia, consumed by jealousy, makes a wish: to travel back in time to when he was young and everyone loved him. Tadeo and Sara must join forces to prevent Momia from changing the course of history and bring the group—including Jeff, Belzoni, and Ramona—back home. This new adventure will take them across the Atlantic Ocean from the mythical lost city of Paititi to Greece, and from there to the heart of the Middle East, all the way to the very cave of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves.
The film is a production of Telecinco Cinema, Lightbox Animation Studios, Ikiru Films, Anangu Grup, and Tadeo Films AIE, with the participation of Mediaset España, Movistar Plus+, and Mediterráneo Mediaset España Group, funded by the ICAA and supported by the ICEC. Paramount Pictures Spain is handling theatrical distribution, as with the previous installments.
