“5 MINUTES MORE,” A FILM WRITTEN BY BERTO ROMERO AND DIRECTED BY JAVIER RUIZ CALDERA, WILL BE SCREENED AT THE SITGES FILM FESTIVAL
The original Movistar Plus film, produced by El Terrat and Ikiru Films, marks Berto Romero’s debut as a screenwriter

“5 MINUTOS MÁS,” a Movistar Plus Original film produced by El Terrat and Ikiru Films, written by Berto Romero, and starring Javier Cámara, Berto Romero himself, and Belén Cuesta, and directed by Javier Ruiz Caldera, will screen in the Sitges Collection section of the 59th edition of the Catalonia International Fantastic Film Festival, following its screenings at the San Sebastián International Film Festival and Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas.
The producers of ‘5 MINUTOS MÁS’ are Berto Romero, Bernat Elías, Javier Méndez, Edmon Roch, and Movistar Plus.
“5 MINUTOS MÁS” marks Berto Romero’s debut as a screenwriter and represents a new creative collaboration between Romero and Ruiz Caldera, following their work together on the series “Mira lo que has hecho” (winner of the Ondas Award for Best Comedy Series) and “El otro lado,” both of which are also Movistar Plus originals produced by El Terrat.
Javier Ruiz Caldera has established one of the most versatile careers in the Spanish audiovisual scene. His filmography stands out for the freedom with which he blends genres and for the very personal sense of humor that permeates his stories. With “5 MINUTOS MÁS,” he once again collaborates with Berto Romero, a frequent creative partner whom he has directed in “El otro lado,” “Mira lo que has hecho,” “Anacleto: agente secreto,” “Tres bodas de más,” and “Wolfgang.”
‘5 MINUTOS MÁS’ tells the story of a married couple in crisis who decide to spend a weekend on a rural getaway at an isolated house in the countryside. There, they meet with a representative from the agency who shows them around the house and hands them the keys. But before he leaves them alone, something extraordinary happens: time rewinds by 5 minutes.

In the words of director Javier Ruiz Caldera, “You always want your next film to be different from the last one—for it to present a new challenge and force me to approach it from an unfamiliar perspective as a director. As soon as I read Berto Romero’s first feature-length screenplay, I knew I’d found my dream project. The challenge with *5 MINUTOS MÁS* was to make a premise as original as the one the story proposes believable.”
Rounding out the cast are Carlos Bernardino (“Mano de hierro”), Marc Soler (“UPA Next”), Clàudia Melo (“En los márgenes”), Puchi Lagarde (“Galgos”), Tian Tosas (“La última noche en Tremor”), and Nia Tosas (“El mal invisible”).
‘5 MINUTOS MÁS’ will hit theaters on January 22, 2027. Filmax is handling domestic distribution and international sales.
