AINA CLOTET MAKES HER FEATURE DIRECTORIAL DEBUT WITH ‘OH NORA!’
Ikiru Films and Funicular Films are pleased to announce the end of shooting of Oh Nora!, the feature directorial debut of Aina Clotet.
With screenplay by Aina Clotet and Valentina Viso, Oh Nora! places us in an imminent future where extreme drought and mental health mark the social and political agenda, to show us, in the key of dramedy, the story of Nora, who, at the gates of forty, faces the return in her life after overcoming breast cancer.
The fear of death, but above all the will to live, are the central themes of this story with which Aina Clotet has decided to debut in feature films.
Oh Nora! stars Aina Clotet, Marc Soler (Celeste, La Academia), Naby Dakhli (Hamilton, La casa de David), Lloll Bertran (La mirada de la Fiona) and Willy Toledo (Escapo, El rey). The film also features Zaïra Pérez, Xavi Daura, Wiz Problema and Laura Conejero (Un cielo de plomo, El maestro que prometió el mar), among others.
Oh Nora! has been selected in prestigious national and international laboratories such as the Torino Film Lab, Abycine Lanza or the Screenplay Residence of the Catalan Film Academy – Faberllull.
In the words of Aina Clotet: “This is a project that I began to develop a few years ago and was born from the need to explore two themes that have been very important to me: the fear of death, the impermanence that is so difficult to understand, and dependence in relationships, especially in romantic love. With Valentina Viso we have written a script that begins in a moment of light: the protagonist, Nora, has just overcome a hard stage and, with a new energy, she starts to live intensely. But so much life, so much light, can also blind and burn: the sun should never face us. With a vitalist look and with humor, we want to explain a story of mourning and transformation.”
Edmon Roch, producer of Ikiru Films, adds: “Aina explained the seed of Oh Nora! to me before the pandemic, before making This is not Sweden. From the first moment I identified a fresh and necessary story, about the role of women and young people in their forties, very much 21st century, with a unique vital energy. All this, with the extraordinary look of Aina, always able to illuminate with humor some of the dramas of our daily lives. It is a luxury to have been surrounded by such a formidable team of professionals to give voice to such a powerful and exceptional author as Aina Clotet”.
For Marta Baldó and Marc Clotet, producers of Funicular Films: “It has been a new learning experience to shoot with a producer like Edmon Roch, from Ikiru Films. When Aina began to imagine this story, we had not yet created Funicular Films, and it was Ikiru Films who initiated the development. The processes are so long that, when we were already immersed in the script labs, we founded our own production company and we could also join as co-producers. We are also very happy to be able to distribute the film with Enrique González Kuhn, from Caramel Films, a professional with a great intuition for cinema, who wanted to get involved in the development phase.

The shooting of Oh Nora! took place during seven weeks in various locations in Badalona, Barcelona, El Garraf, Arenys de Munt, the metropolitan area and San Francisco (USA). The film is shot in the original Catalan version.
Oh Nora! is a production of Ikiru Films and Funicular Films, with the participation of 3Cat and Movistar+, and the support of ICEC and ICAA, and the Badalona City Council and Reactivación Badalona, S.A.
Caramel Films will distribute the film to theaters throughout Spain.
